  • Millie Zeiler

Being that I am primarily a cook/caterer by trade, blogging anything and everything to do with food has proven to be my top niche.

However, I am also someone who is very much a people person, so have also explored blogging about anything and everything I believe can help people with that comes to mind. As a result, I now have a website that has a collection of categories, each designed to narrow down a specific range of topics that match the niche.

Unfortunately, this makes the site seem somewhat cluttery, and am now looking into breaking up the site with at least another one.

I bring this up because I know many have the same situation as I do. This is where a decision needs to be made about what exactly does one wishes to blog about. While it is nice to have variety on a website, having too much has been known to have its drawbacks.

My advice to people who are looking into blogging is to write down a list of things that interest you the most. Odds are, whatever you marked down in your top three are the most likely candidates to be your ultimate niche of choice should you choose to proceed.

    • Yvonne Bray

Hello, Millie; thank you for your valuable input. I find if you have too many niches on your website, it can confuse your audience. They tend to wonder what is this website all about. You should really have one niche per site, and I agree writing out your list is the best thing to do and decide which niche you are going to focus on.
